From the trailer of Sanju itself, it was clear that Ranbir Kapoor has done his best in transforming into Sanjay Dutt. Hence, it shouldn’t be surprising that the Rajkumar Hirani-directed film made over Rs 70 crore within two days of its release. Everybody loved Sanju as did the man himself – Sanjay Dutt, as he appraised Ranbir’s performance in the film during the trailer launch event of his upcoming film Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3.
Sanju is a biopic on Sanjay Dutt and casts Ranbir as the actor. Dutt, finally, watched the film last week and said that Ranbir put up a spectacular show while Vicky Kaushal, who features as his close friend, was equally good, reports The Indian Express. ““Ranbir (Kapoor) is extraordinary in the film. I think the film is fantastic and Raju ji (Rajkumar Hirani), Vicky Kaushal, and everybody has done a fantastic job,” Dutt said, as per a report in The Indian Express.
The Rajkumar Hirani-directed film primarily spans across Dutt’s life – from his twenties to present day, thereby highlighting the senior actor’s struggle with drug-addiction and his jail term in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case apart from his involvement in multiple affairs and his relationship with his parents. As far as the content of Sanju is concerned, Dutt added: “Whatever is the truth, has been shown in the film.”
Sanju, meanwhile, has floored critics as well as audiences and needless to mention, emerged as the biggest opener of 2018 as it collected Rs 73.35 crore since its release on June 29. As per trade analysts, Sanju is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark within three days of its release.
