Hurry up! Two days left for SBI’s FREE 5 litres petrol offer; know how to avail

The Oil Marketing Companies (OMC) have been trimming down the price of petrol and diesel consistently since past few weeks.The cut fuel purchase is such, that petrol has finally come below Rs 75-mark and diesel below Rs 70-level. There was a time when a litre of petrol was as expensive as Rs 92 in some cities, whereas diesel earmarked over Rs 81 a litre on the back of rising crude oil prices. However, international brent crude has been relaxed in past few weeks along with Indian rupee, which has given a breather to OMCs in reducing petrol and diesel prices. That said, how would you feel if you can earn free 5 litres of petrol on just making a Rs 100 purchase of this fuel. It would definitely will be a good news.


Guess what! This is what the largest lender State Bank of India is offering you FREE 5 litres of petrol. However, one needs to hurry up, as the SBI’s free petrol offer will end tomorrow.

SBI via its twitter account today said, “Fuel up with BHIM SBI Pay at any Indian Oil Retail outlet and get up to 5 litres of petrol absolutely free! Offer extended until 15th Dec 2018.”

Steps for customer to avail offer:

Step 1 – Buy fuel from Indian Oil Retail Outlets and pay through BHIM-UPI i.e. BHIM SBI Pay app. (min transaction value – Rs 100/-)

Step 2 – Send SMS in a specified format to 9222222084: <UPI Reference No. (12-Digit)> <DDMM>

For example, in the sample transaction shown above, the 12 digit – UPI reference No. would be: 832310178864.

It needs to be noted that, there are normal SMS charges apply. One can also call customer care no – 1800 22 8888 (TOLL-FREE) for any queries.

Terms and conditions:

Offer commences on 15th Oct’18 and closes at 12.00 IST (midnight) on 15th Dec’18 – (“Offer Period”). Any entries received after 12.00 midnight, on 16th Dec’18 will  not be considered.

A customer purchasing fuel through card, should SMS with the 6 digit approval / Auth code printed on the charge slip along with the date of transaction in the specified syntax – ‘Approval/Authcode<space>DDMM.’ to the no 9222222084. Where DDMM is the actual date of card payment transaction.

For purchases through UPI, the customer should send the 12 digit UPI reference no along with the date of transaction. The sms syntax for UPI transaction is “12 Digit UPI ref No<space>DDMM” to the number 9222222084. Where DDMM is the actual date of UPI payment transaction.

A customer can make multiple entries for repeat purchases however each SMS should have a separate Auth/approval code or UPI reference no. Multiple entries using the same Auth/approval code or UPI reference number will be considered invalid.

Cash-backs on offer – Out of all eligible SMSs received for a particular transaction date, 10,000 SMSs shall be entitled for cash-back ranging as per Rs 50/-, Rs100/-, Rs150/, Rs 200/-.

Only those SMS which have been sent in proper sms syntax within 7 (including the day of transaction) days of the actual payment through card or UPI for purchase of fuel from IndianOil Retail Outlet will be eligible for participating in the campaign.

Winners will be sent link to enroll into the XTRAREWARDS Loyalty Program of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and the cashback incentive will be credited into the winners loyalty account. The winners shall be required to provide the requisite personal profile information such as name, address etc to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd for creation of such Loyalty account. The winner shall also have to agree to the XTRAREWARDS Loyalty Program to avail the cash back incentive.

Winners may redeem the XTRAREWARDS loyalty point by visiting participating Indian Oil Corporation Ltd Retail Outlet against fuel purchase, it said.

Today, a litre of petrol was priced at Rs 70.29 in New Delhi, Rs 75.91 in Mumbai, Rs 72.50 in Kolkata, Rs 72.94 in Chennai and Rs 70.93 in Gurgaon.

The cheapest Petrol price is in Chandigarh priced at Rs 66.45 and Hyderabad charges the highest petrol price at Rs 74.55 per litre.
