Just few hours after the end of Samsung’s foldable smartphone launch keynote and Android Developer Summit’s first day, Apple has introduced new beta versions of all the four major OS versions – iOS, tvOS, watchOSand macOS. The update brings the OS versions to iOS 12.1.1, tvOS 12.1.1, macOS 10.12.2 and watchOS 5.1.2. Since it is in beta, only those who have registered for the beta program can get access to it.
According to 9to5Mac, the beta versions of iOS and tvOS may come with several fixes as it has been noticed in the past x.1 versions. The watchOS 5.1.2 is expected to feature new ‘complications’ in the Infograph watchface. These may include Messages, Mail, Home and others.
It has been added that with iOS 12.1.1 the Cupertino-based firm has ironed out the FaceTime app with a better camera switching UI. Users can also take Live Photos and see the updated Apple Watch app icon resembling that of the Watch Series 4.
Apple’s watchOS has been in the news recently. When the Watch Series 4 came out, it ran watchOS 5. Few days after, Apple started seeding watchOS 5.1.1 but had to pull it back as several Watch Series 4 users started witnessing repeated booting up with a permanent Apple logo on the watch. Apple even gave a statement confirming the bug. However, recently, the firm rolled out watchOS 5.1.1 that not just fixed the bug but also brought some new features onboard.
It brings the support for 70 new emojis along with full-screen colour watch faces in addition to group FaceTime audio for up to 32 users. The changelog also suggests fixes for an issue that could cause an incomplete installation of the Walkie-Talkie app for some users. It also resolves the issue wherein users were not able to send or receive invitations on Walkie-Talkie. watchOS 5.1.1 also addresses the problem where users earned activity awards but it was not showing up in the Awards tab of the Activity app for select users.
